Jim Kappernaros

Artist Bio:

Jim wants levels in his art. He wants to show something aesthetically interesting first, but when the viewer looks deeper, there should be more meaning. The artist tries to show the viewer something more than the subject matter, something personal. A reflection of the artist's view of the world is in every brush stroke and every mark the artist makes (whether they want it to be or not), no matter what the subject matter. The abstract meanings don’t have to be the answer to all of life’s questions, but going beyond the pictorial in any degree makes for a more substantial overall piece and that will create a more satisfying aesthetic. The viewer does their part to interpret these meanings, but ultimately it is the responsibility of the artist to do the heavy lifting.

So that is what he tries to do, lift mundane subjects into the atmosphere of creative interpretation…sometimes it gets heavy.
